Infocomm Facilities in Building COPIF
On 21 Aug 2008, IDA released the COPIF 2008 and the accompanying Guidelines For Info-communications Facilities in Buildings. The COPIF 2008 and the Guidelines will come into effect on 15 Sept 2008 and replace the existing COPIF 2000 and its addendum. All residential and non-residential building development projects which receive provisional or written permissions from URA on or after 15 Sept 2008 shall comply with the COPIF 2008.
IDA has received queries and feedback from building owners/developers and telecommunication licensees with regard to the use of, and access to, space and facilities that have been provided by building owners and developers in accordance with the requirements in the Code of Practice for Info-communications Facilities in Buildings ("COPIF") and the Guidelines for Info-Communications Facilities in Buildings ("COPIF Guidelines"), both issued in September 2008. IDA has been providing clarifications to the queries and feedback received on a case-by-case basis with various building owners/developers. In order for IDA to better communicate the commonly sought clarifications more effectively, IDA has updated the COPIF Guidelines to provide greater clarity with regard to the responsibilities of building owners/developers and telecommunication licensees. IDA expects that, with the publication of the amended COPIF Guidelines, installation and maintenance works to be carried out by telecommunication licensees can be done expeditiously and without delay.
