Home-based work and smart work centre
Overview of CFC
Better work-life balance, increase staff retention, reduced costs and commuting time, improved productivity; these are some of the benefits both companies and employees can look forward to when the location of work can be moved from office to the home or nearer to their home. In Singapore where the broadband penetration is over 80 per cent and the deployment of ultra high speed Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network is underway, companies will find it increasingly viable and beneficial to enable their employees to work from home and/or Smart Work Centres as they have ready access to enabling infrastructure.
There are 2 tracks in this CFC, and the aim is to encourage industry player collaborate and conduct pilots on (i)
Home-based Work
, and (ii)
Smart Work Centre
. The CFC would require infocomm companies to develop and provide the enabling ICT services, potential operators to develop and manage the Smart Work Centres, and user organisations to place a number of their workers to work from home or from the Smart Work Centres. More importantly, IDA and its partners also hope that this CFC can heighten awareness and acceptance amongst employers on the concept of bringing work closer to homes and community.
The Home-based Work and Smart Work Centre CFC has closed on 19 June 2012.
