Capability Development

To ensure that iLEs are equipped with the capabilities to transit towards product- or cloud-based business models, IDA has several manpower development initiatives that help iLEs to build core capabilities in this area. Some of the capability development programmes that iLEs can leverage on are:

  • Infocomm Industry Productivity Masterclass Series

IDA, in partnership with Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), launched a series of infocomm productivity masterclasses, where global thought-leaders are invited to share best practices and experiences on productivity improvement and productisation-related topics for ICT companies.

To find out more on the masterclass series, check out The Portal regularly.

  • Skills Upgrading and Career Path Analysis

iLEs can grow their in-house capabilities with subsidised courses and certifications in critical, emerging and hybrid infocomm skills, such as product development, Agile-Scrum development, cloud computing and software architecture, under the Critical Infocomm Technology Resource (CITREP) Expanded programme.

The National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) defines competencies and training curriculum for infocomm skills that helps to enhance productivity and to develop new training courses for specialised skills. IT Professionals and hiring employers are encouraged to reference this framework to assess latest industry competencies that may help individuals to be more productive and identify courses that may cultivate a productive mindset.

  • Productivity Related Courses

The Strategic Product Manager™ (SPMR) course is a comprehensive four-day program that presents attendees with a practical and interactive learning experience and provides the necessary knowledge, skills and tools to manage advanced products at technology and high-tech companies.

  • On-the-Job Training with Local ICT companies and Large User Enterprises

With technology advancement, iLEs should invest in skills upgrading for their employees through short courses training or on- the- job training with technology companies.

The infocomm Leadership and Development (iLEAD) Expanded programme aims to ensure that Singapore's infocomm manpower capabilities keep pace with technology changes and Singapore remains at the forefront of technology development. Employers can enrol as an iLEAD Partner and send their employees or new hires to any iLEAD's Centre of Attachments (COA) consisting of IT MNCs and Large Enterprises for local and overseas work attachments; and overseas specialised professional courses. iLEAD Expanded will help grow and groom infocomm leaders and experts in high-end niche areas relevant to the industry.

Fresh graduates or working professionals with less than 3 years experiences may also apply to IDA's Company-led Training Programme for Fresh Professionals (CLT) through CLT Partner Programmes. Under CLT, trainees will receive a structured foundation, technical and on-the-job training on real projects to speed track their learning and technical knowledge. IDA will work together with the CLT Partners to scope the training curriculum focusing on high demand areas and technologies relevant to the industry. Upon training completion, trainees may be given an opportunity to work at the CLT partner.
