Data & Analytics
IDA takes an integrated approach that involves catalysing demand and seeding early adoption of analytics in key industry sectors, developing infocomm industry and manpower capabilities, establishing scalable and secure data exchange platforms, formulating the appropriate data policies, and developing "data hubs" that will deliver innovative data services and applications. Collectively, these efforts will create a vibrant Data & Analytics ecosystem in Singapore and position Singapore strategically as an international Data & Analytics Hub.
Local and foreign enterprises will be able to leverage on Singapore's Data & Analytics capabilities to apply analytics strategically, to guide business strategy and planning, as well as tactically, to optimise day-to-day business processes. Effective use of analytics will enable enterprises to remain agile and competitive in dynamic market environments, and to maximize productivity.
Some of the initiatives under Industry Development are:
Business Analytics Translational Centre (BATC)
, a cross-agency initiative by A*STAR (Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R) and Exploit Technologies Private Limited) and IDA set up in 2012. The mission of BATC is to catalyse innovation, perform technology translation, and drive adoption of Business Analytics (BA). We aim to build a vibrant eco-system for BA in verticals that are relevant to Singapore’s economy, such as banking and financial services, insurance, telecommunications, government, education, tourism, retail, energy and healthcare.
Business Analytics Innovation Challenge
is a competition platform where enterprise users leverage an online system & offline industry networking sessions to crowd source BA ideas, develop prototypes for piloting and potentially developing innovative analytics products or solutions to solve real-life industry problems in collaboration with data scientists, Institutes of Higher Learning (i.e. Universities and Polytechnics), Research Institutions, technology players and solution providers.
