Digital Concierge for Consumers
Whether shopping, eating out or catching a movie, applications developed under the Digital Concierge programme have opened up a whole new world of richer and more personalised mobile services for the consumer.
8 am:
While on the bus to work, Peter calls his girlfriend to arrange to watch a movie after work. He browses the cinema's mobile web site for his favourite show and sees that there are seats available. He makes a booking for the evening show and the electronic tickets are delivered to his phone.
11 am:
Peter is running late for a meeting. Making his way down in the office lift, he books a taxi through his mobile phone. Before he even gets to the ground floor, he gets a confirmation message with the taxi number.
1 pm:
After a fruitful meeting, Peter heads out for lunch. He goes to a nearby shopping mall, and checks his phone for a listing of Thai restaurants. One of them, Pad Thai, sends a discount coupon to his mobile phone. He decides to make use of the coupon. Peter checks his phone for the restaurant's location using augmented reality, and discovers that it is just round the corner.
6 pm:
Peter gets off work early and decides to do his grocery shopping. He goes to the supermarket and picks out his groceries by scanning them with his mobile phone. He makes payment with his mobile wallet and chooses to have the groceries delivered to his house the next evening.
7 pm:
Peter meets his girlfriend at the cinema and they enter by tapping his phone on the gantry, bypassing a group of people queuing to buy tickets at the box office. Knowing that taxis will be hard to get after the show, Peter uses his phone to make an advance booking. When the movie ends, Peter and his girlfriend make their way to the taxi stand to find their taxi waiting for them.
