Company-Led Training Programme for Fresh Professionals (CLT)

Introduction

While institutions of higher learning (IHLs) have been training graduates for entrant-level jobs through industry-relevant curriculum and industry internships, there is a need for training in a commercial setting. This is better done by companies via real life multiple-client projects.

The Company-Led Training Programme for Fresh Professionals (CLT) is an initiative by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), under the Infocomm Manpower Development Roadmap Version 2.0 (MDEV 2.0). IDA will collaborate with CLT Partners to recruit, mentor and train fresh professionals in areas and technologies relevant to the local infocomm industry.

Programme Description

Currently, various infocomm companies provide in-house training for entrant-level professionals, and some have indicated willingness to train these professionals over and above their own needs. Therefore, working with these companies, CLT aims to fast-track fresh infocomm professionals to take on specialist-level jobs.

All trainees will undergo fundamental training relevant to the area of specialisation in the CLT Partner's business units. While working on live projects, trainees will be assigned mentors who will guide and provide constructive feedback, nurturing these young professionals to utilise skills obtained throughout the training. Trainees will also be encouraged to propose solutions and recommendations for the projects they are working on. The training duration spans between nine to 12 months, encompassing on-the-job training as well as local and/or overseas attachment opportunities.

In 2012, IDA has finalised the partnership with three companies to help grow and groom fresh infocomm professionals in the following areas:

  • Business Analytics
  • Cloud Computing
  • Mobile Application Development
  • Systems Network Administration
  • Software Security Administration
