To create a pro-consumer and pro-business infocomm environment, IDA formulates infocomm-related policies, standards, codes of practice and advisory guidelines aimed at leveling the playing field for infocomm service providers and empowering consumers and businesses with more choices.

IDA plays an active role in developing Singapore’s pool of globally-competitive infocomm talent and an infocomm-savvy workforce. We are also focused on driving consumer education initiatives, ensuring digital inclusion and supporting the effective use of infocomm in community outreach efforts.

Overview

IDA drives the growth, competitiveness and innovation of Singapore’s infocomm industry by nurturing local infocomm enterprises and supporting them in their internationalisation efforts. We also seek to inject greater vibrancy into the infocomm ecosystem by attracting world-class global infocomm MNCs and startups to hub in Singapore.

The Telecommunications Standards Advisory Committee

Comprising network and service operators, equipment suppliers and manufacturers, academia and researchers, the TSAC represents professional, trade and consumer interest in telecommunications standardisation. The TSAC advises IDA on the setting of ICT standards as well as on the development and recommendation of specifications, standards, information notes, guidelines and other forms of documentation for adoption and advancement of standardisation efforts of the Singapore ICT industry (generally termed "IDA Standards").

Supported by a Secretariat provided by IDA, the TSAC initiates new work items and forms Working Groups ("TSAC WGs"). While the formation of a TSAC WG should be industry-driven with the designated Chairperson drawing up a charter and programme to achieve outcomes that have impact on an emerging area, the TSAC performs the oversight role in reviewing the standardisation programmes adopted by TSAC WGs.
