People Sector Transformation

People Sector Programme

The People Sector Programme aims to raise infocomm sophistication and adoption, such as the use of Social Media, Web 2.0 Technologies and Mobile Applications among the People Sector Organisations (PSOs) such as Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), grassroots organisations and community groups, to better engage their public stakeholders.

PSOs could leverage on the latest ICT technologies to provide more participative opportunities with social crowd-sourcing and crisis management; or to enhance the user experience through "Gamification" (Game Mechanism).

The People Sector Programme consists of three main thrusts:

  1. People Sector Infocomm Broad Outreach
This is a series of broad outreach public education events, some led by IDA and others in partnership with channel or technology partners. These events will showcase many of the latest infocomm services of IDA's PSO partners and also other sophisticated infocomm services that would enrich the lives of the people.

  2. People Sector Infocomm Adoption
This is to promote infocomm adoption in PSOs by providing enablers for ease of adoption. Enablers include infocomm adoption best practice frameworks for the sector, Web 2.0 "ready-to-use" Content Management Systems (CMS) and infocomm adoption grants scheme. We also supports events for match-making technology partners with PSOs in order to create a sustaining relationship between the infocomm industry and the sector.

  3. People Sector Competency Development
This involves training the people (management, employees and volunteers) from PSOs in using the latest infocomm tools when engaging their communities. The Social Media Immersion Programme and the People Sector - Infocomm Industry Exchange were created as part of the thrust to raise this competency among PSOs.

The People Sector Infocomm Resource Centre (PSIRC) is one of the initiatives in collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) to enhance support to the PSOs for their outreach efforts through infocomm technologies.
