Infocomm Clubs Programme

Objective

The Infocomm Clubs Programme is a Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) for primary, secondary and junior college students. It aims to excite students about infocomm in a fun and meaningful way by helping them to learn new infocomm skills and to cultivate leadership and entrepreneurship capabilities at an early age.

The objectives of the Infocomm Clubs Programme are to:

  • Excite students about the possibilities of Infocomm in a fun way.
  • Equip students with relevant infocomm skills.
  • Provide students with opportunities to express creativity, entrepreneurship and community spirit.

Programme Description

  • Infocomm club in each school will have programmes that cover one or more focus areas such as digital media, mobile technologies, software development, security & networking and games development.
  • Run the Infocomm club in partnership with industry and other institutions, the Infocomm Club activities include training, project work, mentorship, competitions and collaboration with other schools, locally and internationally.  Schools under the Infocomm Clubs Programme may also collaborate to share facilities, extend training, provide ambassadors and undertake joint activities.
  • The Infocomm Club in each school will also organise school-wide enrichment programmes such as seminars or workshops to raise infocomm awareness and appreciation for all students.
  • The Infocomm Club in each school will act as an infocomm resource centre for the school.  Platforms will also be provided for schools and various other parties to come together to collaborate, and create a central pool of resources for teachers and students to tap on.

Benefits

Through the clubs activities, students can appreciate technologies better, and creatively apply their skills to communicate ideas and use them in their school project work. The clubs can also be a supplementary resource for teachers to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

  • Youth Infocomm Week cum NICA Awards Ceremony

Application

The Infocomm Club programme offers 3 flexible options to suit the school's needs.

Option 1 - Infocomm Club

Club is eligible for co-funding by IDA up to S$5,000 per year for 2 years.

Option 2 - Value-Added Infocomm Club

Club is eligible for co-funding* by IDA up to S$10,000 per year for 2 years.

Option 3 - Associate Infocomm Club

School will be listed on IDA's website and publicity materials as an Associate Infocomm Club member school.

Schools interested in the Infocomm Clubs programme are advised to follow these steps:

  1. Select focus area and technology partner/trainer
  2. Arrange for a meeting with the technology partner/trainer
  3. Ensure that the club's infrastructure is ready
  4. Call for an ITQ to appoint  technology partner/trainer
  5. Submit application form to Infocomm Club administrator
  6. Conduct member recruitment
