Introduction

InfoPier is the first-ever trusted Infocomm Online Community , exclusively for Infocomm professionals in Singapore, launched in 8 Nov 2011 by Singapore Computer Society (SCS) with support from Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).

InfoPier aims to be the leading voice of an active Infocomm community, inspiring and transforming Infocomm professionals through information, education, community and advocacy. It is an active online infocomm community aimed at helping ICT professionals advances their careers by showcasing their individual skills and achievements through a dynamic, active online community.

InfoPier has successfully attracted 3000 IT professionals in Singapore and facilitated the formation of seven special interest groups such as Open Source Software for Innovation and Collaboration (OSSIC) and Interactive Digital Media, as of 24 Sep 2012.

Objectives of InfoPier:

InfoPier was initiated to create a registry and foster an online purpose-built community for ICT professionals in Singapore with the following objectives:

  • Raise the ICT professionals' profile in the industry and in Singapore as a whole;

  • Understand the competencies of the infocomm manpower and to leverage on the registry to steer the development of infocomm manpower towards skills in demand or emerging areas;

  • Leverage on the registry as a tool to close the demand-supply of infocomm manpower gap, especially in niche or emerging areas; and

  • Enable collaboration amongst members and to build a flexible workforce.
