As part of the iN2015 Next Generation e-Payment Programme, IDA, together with industry partners, has launched this initiative to enable businesses and merchants in high cash based retail segments to equip their outlets with terminals to accept CEPAS e-Payments.

Under this initiative, businesses and merchants can deploy CEPAS-compliant contactless POS
terminals to:

• Enable customers to make payments using their CEPAS contactless cards;
• Speed up checkout process and shorten customer queuing time;
• Reduce the hassle of cash handling, and reduce risk of cash loss;
• Improve hygiene, especially for business involving food handling; and
• Increase business by leveraging marketing programs driven by the acquirers.

With more than 20,000 acceptance points already deployed in food courts, food shops and convenience stores, consumers now can travel and shop conveniently with just a Tap of their CEPAS cards. Click here to find out more .

Objectives of CEPAS

• Accelerate e-payment adoption by effecting a change in consumer habits through contactless payments; and
• Catalyse the deployment of NFC mobile payments in the future by expediting the installation of more acceptance points.

Benefits for Businesses and Merchants

• Lower transaction fees of not more than 0.85% for two years
• Waiver of setup fees and monthly rental fees for at least a year
• Shorter 2-working day settlement period

Terms and duration for the above may vary between different acquirers, please consult the acquirers for specific terms of offer.

Validity Period

Initiative starts 16 Nov 2009 and ends 31 Jan 2013. During this period, all merchants/businesses, in selected high cash-based segments without existing POS terminal facilities, will stand to enjoy the scheme benefits.
