9 October 2012 - BCA-IDA Green Mark for Data Centres scheme comprises of a dedicated green building rating system for Data Centres (DCs) that is designed to encourage the adoption of energy efficient design, operation and management of data centres.

To help DC operators lower the costs of retrofitting their DCs to improve energy efficiency, IDA has introduced a tax incentive, the Investment Allowance for Energy Efficiency Projects (Data Centres). Companies awarded this incentive will be granted an investment allowance from 30% to 50% of the fixed capital expenditure incurred on retrofitting their data centres. The investment allowance is to be set off against the chargeable income of the company.

The objectives of The People Sector Programme is to "increase awareness and promote greater adoption of infocomm" and "to increase sophistication and savviness of the adult population", with respect to the usage of infocomm.

Data Centres (DC) are heavy users of energy whereby their energy bill makes up a significant portion of their operating budget. The Green Data Centre initiative aims to boost the competitiveness of the DC industry by raising their overall energy efficiency.

4 May 2012 - The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore ("IDA") is issuing a Call-for-Collaboration ("CFC") to invite proposals from consortiums to develop and pilot innovative and pioneering solutions that will significantly improve the energy efficiency of local data centres.

i-Singapore is the key programme that drives the awareness and adoption of geospatial technology and applications in the private sector. Under this programme, many i-Singapore themes are developed to promote opportunities in different industry segments. Geospatial technology is also an enabler for location aware applications for consumers and businesses supported by i-Singapore.

ISO 27001 Certification Grant Scheme, an initiative under the Infocomm Security Masterplan (MP2), aims to raise the awareness of ISO 27001 and encourage the adoption of ISO 27001 among organisations.

To reduce the energy consumption and operating costs of data centres and enhance their competitiveness, IDA has partnered other government agencies and industry to develop a Singapore Standard for Green Data Centres under the IT Standards Committee.
