Singapore’s infocomm development is guided by Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015), a 10-year masterplan which seeks to transform Singapore into An Intelligent Nation, A Global City, Powered by Infocomm.
iN2015 posits a Singapore where infocomm will become intrinsic in the way people live, learn, work and play while unleashing new possibilities for industry and the economy. In 2010, IDA continued to build on the momentum achieved in the first five years of the masterplan to make significant progress towards realising this vision.
The four building blocks of the intelligent nation are: an ultra-high speed, pervasive, intelligent and trusted infocomm infrastructure; an infocomm-savvy workforce and globally competitive infocomm manpower; the sectoral transformation of key economic sectors, government and society through infocomm; and a globally competitive infocomm industry.
In the past year, efforts to achieve the iN2015 vision continued to focus on strengthening these building blocks through three strategic thrusts. The first thrust is to develop the hard and soft infrastructure that will consolidate Singapore’s position as an economic hub. The second is to encourage the sophisticated demand for infocomm in order to harness its potential for economic transformation. The third is to foster the creation of innovative services and knowledge capital in other to build up a strong and vibrant infocomm industry.
