The Information Technology Authority of Oman (ITA) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) have extended a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on various aspects of ICT. Areas covered in the MOU, which was signed in October 2007, include the use of ICT in government and various economic sectors such as education, finance, healthcare and tourism, and promoting exchanges on the use of ICT by the government and private sectors.

The extension was signed in Muscat, Oman on 17 October 2009 by Dr Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer of ITA, and RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of IDA. Both parties will continue with the sharing of experiences and knowledge in this ICT collaboration, and explore co-operation on projects which will be implemented by both the public and private sectors.

Several projects were initiated following the signing of the MOU in 2007, such as the development of the Oman eGovernment Enterprise Architecture, the Ubar E-Government Portal and the establishment of a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) for Oman.

RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay said, “Singapore has gained much experience in the development and implementation of a wide range of ICT projects in the government and various economic sectors over the years. The deep domain knowledge and expertise of Singapore infocomm companies can contribute to the development and adoption of ICT in Oman."
