Singapore and Kuwait strengthen e-Government partnership

Posted date: 1 December 2008

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) will partner Kuwait’s Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) to accelerate the implementation of e-Government in Kuwait and serve as an advisor to CAIT on matters pertaining to information technology and e-Government. These are some of the areas of collaboration covered under the third Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening the e-Government partnership between Singapore and Kuwait.

The signing of the MOU took place during a state visit by the President of Singapore to the State of Kuwait in November.

The latest MOU signing was part of the state visit by the President of Singapore to the State of Kuwait in November. It was signed in Kuwait City by Mr Leong Keng Thai, Deputy Chief Executive and Director-General (Telecoms & Post) of IDA and Mr Ali M. Al-Shuraidah, Director-General of CAIT.

"This MOU between IDA and CAIT further strengthens the relationship between Singapore and Kuwait. We have learnt from each other through previous engagements and we look forward to continued collaboration with CAIT in the future," said Mr Leong.

Under the MOU, IDA and CAIT will share their experiences as well as technical and operational insights on selected projects. The latest collaboration follows the success of two past MOUs signed between the Republic of Singapore and the State of Kuwait in September 2004 and 2005 respectively.

Under the first MOU, Singapore provided support to Kuwait in the establishment of CAIT and the development of an e-Government Blueprint for the State of Kuwait. The second MOU kick-started two high-priority e-Government projects - the Kuwait Information Network and the Kuwait Government Online.
