Singapore’s IDA International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Information, Communications Technology and Post Authority (ICTPA) of Mongolia, strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two countries. The MOU was signed by Mr Bat-Erdene Jalavsuren, Chairman of the ICTPA and Mr Seah Chin Siong, Chief Executive Officer of IDA International.

ICTPA is a government organisation, which was formed under the government of Mongolia and tasked to oversee the development of laws, regulations and development policies related to information technology, post, broadcasting, telecommunications and technology matters. One of its objectives is to also establish an information society and a foundation for a knowledge-based society in Mongolia by enhancing extensive application of ICT in all society sectors.

IDA International is a subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and serves as the execution arm for collaborations on public service infocomm between Singapore and countries around
the world.

The MOU defines the framework within which both organisations can explore opportunities to collaborate on ICT activities and projects related to eGovernment. “I am confident that this collaboration will be beneficial for both countries. This is yet another step towards our strategy of transforming Mongolia into a knowledge-based society. We look forward to this new partnership with IDA International,” said Mr Jalavsuren.

Sharing this sentiment, Mr Seah described the MOU as a significant milestone for collaboration between Mongolia and Singapore in the area of public service infocomm.

Under the MOU, both parties will collaborate on several areas for the next three years. These include ICT-related projects such as enterprise architecture, cloud computing and project management. In addition, both countries have agreed to collaborate on eGovernment projects which will benefit citizens and businesses in Mongolia.
