Mobile enabler Stream Media has announced a new release of its flagship product MoVend that features improved security as well as the addition of two new payment options: Alipay and Cherry Credits.
MoVend is an in-app mobile payment platform for Android, BlackBerry, and Windows 7 phones. By supporting and partnering with different online micropayment options, it allows software application developers, aggregators and publishers an easy and efficient way to charge users without the need for a credit card.
MoVend already supports purchases using the popular PayPal, MOLPoints, as well as carrier billing systems in 37 countries through Zong and Macrokiosk. Now, MoVend is extending its reach and increasing its value with the addition of Alipay and Cherry Credits.
Alipay, a subsidiary of Alibaba.com, is an online payment tool with over 550 million registered users in China. It facilitates more than 8.5 million online transactions daily, making it one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world.
“We are very excited about integrating Alipay as a payment option because it will greatly benefit international developers looking to break into the Chinese market,” said Mr Chua Zi Yong, Chief Executive Officer of Stream Media. “We understand the difficulty developers face in reaching out to the Chinese market due to certain restrictions. This addition of Alipay as an in-app payment option on MoVend will also enable users in China to make in-app purchases using a platform they are familiar with and one that they can trust.”
Cherry Credits is a Singapore-based company with a global reach. Through the sale of physical scratch cards, its virtual currency is widely circulated and used by over a million online gamers internationally, enabling them to purchase virtual in-game items on popular multiplayer online games such as Dragon Nest and Storm Online.
"We are impressed with MoVend's versatile sales model, and believe that the platform will greatly assist developers in monetising their contents on major mobile platforms effectively," said Mr Kelvin Low, Vice President of International Business at Cherry Credits.
In addition to the extended reach, the new release of MoVend also includes an upgrade of security measures to prevent tampering and modification of an application’s code. Any change to the “fingerprint” of a MoVend application will cause the application to terminate immediately, preventing any unintended transactions from taking place.
“Security is of utmost importance when dealing with mobile payment transactions and MoVend takes it very seriously when it comes to ensuring your money reaches the intended merchant,” said Mr Leong Hean Hong, Project Manager at Stream Media.
