The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has issued Calls for Collaboration (CFCs) for the deployment of Contactless Point-of-Sale (POS) Terminals and for the integration of trade and logistics processes through TradeXchange.

Promoting more contactless e-payments in Singapore

Last month, IDA issued a call for collaboration (CFC) to catalyse a pervasive deployment of contactless point-of-sale (POS) terminals across Singapore, in new, untapped segments like food courts, coffee shops and fast food outlets, giving consumers more outlets to make e-payments in future.

NFC will enable consumers to make contactless payments using their mobile phones.

This CFC is part of IDA's overall programme to promote e-payment adoption, particularly interoperable mobile payments enabled by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The wide availability of contactless POS terminals is one of the important infrastructural pieces to support future NFC mobile payments. In addition, this can serve as a means to effect a change in consumer habits towards e-payment adoption.

IDA welcomes all companies that are interested to deploy contactless POS terminals and aims to award to multiple companies for this CFC. Proposal submission ends on 1 June 2009, 12pm. For more information, please email Ms Low Siew Wai at [email protected] .

Integrating trade and logistics processes through TradeXchange

Launched in October 2007, TradeXchange provides a neutral and secure IT platform that enables seamless exchange of information within the trade and logistics community. This multi-party collaboration platform will provide greater operational efficiencies and clearer visibility to businesses across the supply chain.

Companies in the trade and logistics sectors are invited to participate in this CFC by forming consortia to integrate its key trade and logistics IT systems, business processes and data through TradeXchange.

By integrating the IT systems, business processes and data through TradeXchange, it is envisaged that the businesses will enjoy greater operational efficiencies, clearer supply chain visibility, faster shipment turnaround and productivity due to more timely exchanges of information and documents across their partners in the value chain. To the IT service providers, TradeXchange will provide a one-stop connection hub to enable them to expand their service offerings and provide a more efficient end-to-end solution to their customers.

Details of the CFC and Public Briefing are available on the TradeXchange website www.tradexchange.gov.sg since 27 March 2009. The Public Briefing was held on 7 April 2009 and the briefing slides are now available on TradeXchange website and submissions will be closed on 15 June 2009 at 5pm.
