IDA Leads Singapore Companies To GITEX 2006

Through a Singapore themed pavilion, the IDA provided a platform for accompanying Singapore infocomm companies to showcase the products and services using Singapore infocomm solutions

Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), one of the world's Top three IT Exhibitions, was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 18 - 22 November 2006. Larger than previous year, the exhibition attracted over 130,000 visitors and saw more than 1,300 exhibitors from 76 countries taking part in more than 62,000 sq m of exhibition space. A whole new telecoms event GULFCOMMS 2006, highlighted the growth of the telecom sector.

With the view to maximise opportunities in the Middle Eastern region for Singapore and its infocomm local enterprises (iLEs), the IDA provided a platform through a Singapore themed pavilion for nine accompanying Singapore infocomm companies to showcase their products and services using Singapore infocomm solutions.

GITEX 2006 saw more than 1,300 exhibitors from 76 countries taking part in more than 62,000 sq m of exhibition space

Covering 60 sq m, the exhibits displayed Singapore’s collective homegrown infocomm expertise in the areas of e-government, education, telecommunications services, retail & distribution and security. Having a presence at GITEX also boosted the chances for the iLEs present to network with prospective partners in the Middle East region.

During the five-day event, the nine exhibiting companies attended two networking events. One organised by Tradefair - the global event solutions provider for UK ICT companies and the other Singapore Infocomm Night organised by IDA.
