The Digital Media and Entertainment (DME) industry is at the brink of a revolution as a result of infocomm technologies.   This is transforming the production, processing and distribution of content and services. In the process, it is opening up an era of new interactive and immersive possibilities, experiences and business opportunities that will radically change the world by 2015.

Therefore, Singapore aims to establish itself as a DME capital offering innovative content, services and technologies to the world. This can be achieved by focusing on two key strategic thrusts:

  • Developing Singapore as a global node that provides core services for storing, trading and distributing digital assets; and providing infrastructure for the processing, management and delivery of content & services.

  • Developing Singapore into a centre for the creation and commercialisation of DME technologies; and making available technologies and platforms for media & entertainment companies to create content & services.

To realise the goals, IDA will focus on three main programmes:

  • Digital Marketplace Programme aims to establish Singapore as a trusted digital media management and distribution hub for Asia, with a vibrant ecosystem of world-class companies that offer innovative and competitive digital consumer for the region.

  • Trusted Digital Cinema Hub prorgamme aims to establish Singapore as the secure trusted hub for the processing, management and distribution of digital cinematic content to Asia Pacific. It also aims to work with industry to put in place supporting infrastructure, such as processing facilities and network operation centres for Digital Cinema.

  • Connected Games Programme aims to establish Singapore as the leading regional centre for developing and distributing Connected Games content and services. We aim to work closely with industry players and industry associations.
