StreetSine launches new geospatial app

SRX Locate is the second project to come out of StreetSine's collaboration with IDA under the i-Singapore geospatial development programme.

Property buying is a complicated process with many factors to consider – price, location, space size, type of property, and the list goes on.

On 10 April, technology company StreetSine Pte Ltd launched SRX Locate, a property search engine that could relieve some of this hassle for buyers and their agents.

“Traditional property search engines require you to know the name of the apartment or street before you enter your search,” explained Mr Jeremy Lee, Chief Technology Officer of StreetSine. “This seemed backwards to us. What if you don’t know the name? So we invented SRX Locate to ask you where you want to live and then digitally take you to see the homes available in that area.”

Singapore Real Estate Exchange (SRX) is an electronic network which contains listings for house-hunting, with real-time sales and rental transactions for pricing property . Estate agencies and salespersons go to SRX to conduct real estate transactions.

StreetSine, which builds data pipes and software applications for the real estate industry, is the architect and administrator for SRX.

In 2011, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) awarded StreetSine a grant to create a professional co-broking network for the real estate industry. SRX Locate, which allows property agents to list and search for properties based on a location or a landmark, is part of this platform.

SRX Locate is the second project to come out of StreetSine’s collaboration with IDA under the i-Singapore geospatial development programme to develop applications for the real estate sector.

Both projects draw on Singapore Land Authority’s OneMap to display property information. By tagging property information to OneMap, SRX Locate gives users a better understanding of the projects in any geographic area. “For each home, we display relevant amenities and pricing information,” said Mr Lee. “We even provide you with a list of agents who recently transacted in that particular area.” This will help a potential buyer or seller get a clearer understanding of the market in the area as well as the value of a particular property, and then to make a well-informed transaction.

The audience of real estate industry executives and developers who attended the launch of SRX Locate at the annual Singapore Property Analytics Conference (SINGPAC 2013) at the HDB Auditorium in Toa Payoh was enthusiastic about the new tool.

“SRX Locate will change the way people short list homes to visit,” said Mr Eugene Lim of ERA. “In literally a matter of minutes, I can identify what’s available in the market that fits my needs and then connect with an expert agent to help me with the transaction. The SRX consortium of estate agencies was pleased to support this collaboration with IDA as it was clear from the beginning it would make the process of buying and selling homes even more efficient and pleasant for our clients.”
